A 17-year-old boy died after his motorcycle collided with a parked bus near a private school in Aashiyana on Friday morning, police said.
The deceased, identified as Vaibhav Kumar Jha, a class 11 student of a private school and resident of Madhuvan Nagar in Alambagh, was riding the bike with his friend Shashwat Dev Gautam, a fellow student, when the accident took place.
According to police, both were returning to school when their bike rammed into a bus parked on the roadside near the campus. Both sustained injuries in the collision. Police and the school staff rushed them to Lok Bandhu Hospital, where doctors declared Vaibhav dead on arrival. Shashwat Shashwat suffered minor injuries and was discharged after receiving first aid.
A family member said the bike had been gifted to Vaibhav on his birthday just three weeks ago. Aashiyana police station station house officer (SHO) Kshatrpal said the family did not wish to file a complaint and the body was handed over to them after postmortem.
“All necessary legal formalities have been completed,” he added.
