Budget for Railway overbridges approved: Relief from traffic jams for Lucknow locals after ROBs come up

The decks have been cleared for the construction of overbridges at Harauni, Bharwara and Kesarikheda railway crossings of the state capital. The finance committee of the government has approved the budget of ₹183 crore for these three overbridges (ROBs).
The ROBs will be constructed with the joint participation of the Railways and the state government. According to officials of UP State Bridge Corporation, about 10 lakh people will get relief from traffic jams after the construction of these three ROBs.
According to the railway officials, the crossing of Bharwara closes around 45 times a day so there is always a jam-like situation at Bharwara crossing.
Sandeeep Gupta, chief project manager, UP State Bridge Corporation, said, “There is a problem of land availability on the Gomti Nagar extension side, so a rotary would be made, this will come as a big relief for the residents. A budget of ₹65 crore has been approved for the project. Around four lakh residents using the road will benefit from the project.”
A two-lane ROB would be constructed at the Krishnanagar-Kesarikheda crossing which remains closed as more than 100 trains pass through the crossing daily. The bridge of 973.56 m has been approved at a cost of ₹75 crore. Those going from Kanpur Road to Hardoi Road will benefit after the completion of this overbridge.
Especially, Hardoi-bound trucks coming from Kanpur which have to pass through Avadh rotary can take this route after the construction of this overbridge. Around four lakh people of the area will benefit from the overbridge.
Meanwhile, a two-lane bridge will be constructed on the Harauni-Jaitipur rail crossing on the Bani-Mohan Road in Lucknow at a cost of ₹43 crore. This will help in better connectivity of the area with Mohan. The residents of the area had to face a lot of problems due to this crossing.
