The accused Priyanka Mishra, who hails from Shahjahanpur, took 2-3 lakh from each of the nine persons after assuring them of jobs in the government department.

The officials said she has been charged under Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 420 (cheating), 467 and 468 (forgery) and 471 (using as genuine a forged document). They said the FIR was lodged against the woman on the complaint of I-T department spokesperson Aniruddh Chowdhary.

Additional deputy commissioner of police (ADCP-Central) Rajesh Srivastava said the woman was jailed after producing her before a competent court on Wednesday. “She has confessed to issuing fake recruitment letters to nine people in return for money. The police will further investigate to confirm the list of people cheated by her and other people involved in the fraud.”
