The shrines that received the fresh notice on Monday are located in Queen Mary Hospital, the Microbiology Department, New Boys’ Hostel, Respiratory Medicine Department, and Shatabdi Phase-2 hospital premises, according to KGMU officials.

All shrine committees have been asked to appear before the Registrar by February 28.

KGMU spokesperson Prof KK Singh said the committee managing a shrine in the New Orthopaedic department responded to the administration’s first notice, claiming the structure predates 1947 and is historical. The administration is currently verifying this claim, he said.

The other five shrine committees did not respond to the January 22 notice, which had requested documents related to the legality and construction of the structures. The deadline for the response was February 7.

Further action will be determined based on the responses received, he said.
