Man back from US found Covid positive in Agra

The 34-year-old local had recently returned from the US, where he had gone for studies. He suffered from a sore throat and got himself tested in a private lab where he was found Covid positive.

Agra A resident of Agra tested positive for Covid on Tuesday evening after returning from the US on December 30. The sample has been sent for genome sequencing to King George’s Medical University, Lucknow.

Earlier, another local had tested positive after returning from China and an Argentinian tourist had also tested positive but went missing before his report arrived.

The latest case is of a 34-year-old local who recently returned from the US, where he had gone for studies. He suffered from a sore throat and got himself tested in a private lab where he was found Covid positive.

“The man is in home isolation. The Rapid Response Team (RRT) is keeping a watch and necessary steps have been taken. The sample has been sent to KGMU at Lucknow for genome sequencing,” informed chief medical officer (CMO) of Agra Dr AK Srivastava.

Those feared to have come in contact of with the man are also being asked to undergo the test.
