UPCC meet today to finalise strategy on RaGa disqualification case
UPCC to hold a meeting on Sunday to strategize on the disqualification of Rahul Gandhi as Lok Sabha MP after his sentencing in a defamation case.
Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee (UPCC) has convened a meeting of all its district and city unit chiefs on Sunday to work out a strategy to step up the agitation on disqualification of senior leader Rahul Gandhi as Lok Sabha MP after his two-year sentencing in a defamation case.
The party has planned ‘Jai Bharat Satyagraha’ on the issue.
“UPCC president Brijlal Khabri has convened a meeting of all its district and city unit chiefs to discuss future course of action on Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification. UPCC zonal presidents will also remain present in the meeting. We may also discuss the preparations for the elections to urban local bodies as well,” said a senior Congress leader.
As All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary KC Venu Gopal has given a detailed programme to hold Jai Bharat Satyagraha at various levels, the UPCC leadership would brief the party’s zonal, district and city leaders about the same, he added.
AICC has suggested a schedule for holding district and state level Jai Bharat Satyagraha Programmes to take Rahul’s disqualification to the people at grassroots level. The state and district/city units will work out plans to hold ‘Jai Bharat Satyagraha’ at their levels and inform the party about it after the Sunday’s meeting.
