Stage set for UP civic body phase two election: All you need to know
The urban local body election in 38 districts of Uttar Pradesh will take place tomorrow as part of the second phase of polls.
The second and final phase of Uttar Pradesh urban local body election is set to take place tomorrow, seen as a key political exercise to gauge the mood of urban voters before the general election next year. As many as 38 districts will go to poll in the second round, while the counting of votes will be done on May 13.
During the first round on May 4, polling took place for various positions, including 10 municipal corporations. The voting for the second round will occur on Thursday, starting at 7 am and concluding at 6 pm.

Districts, candidates, posts all you need to know about phase two election:
State Election Commissioner Manoj Kumar informed that Thursday the election will be held for seven municipal corporations, 590 municipal wards, 95 municipal council presidents and 2,551 councilors and 268 posts of nagar panchayat presidents and 3,495 members in 38 districts in the state.

The phase one of the election took place on May 4 in 37 districts. Meanwhile, tomorrow the 38 districts of Meerut, Ghaziabad, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Aligarh, Kanpur, Chitrakoot, Basti, Azamgarh Mirzapur, and Ayodhya will go to polls.
Shahjahanpur is a newly formed constituency and will choose its first ever mayor this time. The seat is reserved for female candidates from the Other Backward Classes.
As per election commission, 39,146 candidates are up for an intense poll battle in the second round for 6,929 posts. The election commission also informed Sunday that candidates for as many as 77 posts, including nine corporators, have already been elected unopposed in the second phase of the ongoing election.
While this year, a total of 4.23 crore voters were eligible to cast their votes, of these more than 2 crore people voted in phase one and about 1.92 crore people will vote tomorrow, the EC said.
