Combined state upper subordinate services (mains) examination-2021, commonly called PCS (mains)-2021, will be conducted by Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC) in Lucknow, Prayagraj and Ghaziabad from March 23 to March 27, say UPPSC officials in the know about it.
Details of the examination have been made available on the official website of the commission—https://uppsc.up.nic.in/— for the benefit of the candidates, they add. Earlier the mains examination was to be held from January 28 to January 31 but due to the increasing cases of Covid-19, the examination was postponed on January 19.
As per UPPSC secretary Jagdish (who goes by one name only), the PCS (mains)-2021 will be conducted in two sessions: From 9.30 am to 12.30 pm and from 2pm to 5 pm. “On March 23, there will be General Hindi and Essay examination in the first and second shifts respectively while on March 24 and 25 in the first and second shifts, the examination of General Studies first, second, third and fourth papers will be held respectively,” he added.
Likewise on March 27, in the first and second shifts, the elective subjects’ paper-1 and paper-2 have been scheduled. All the papers of all optional subjects will have two sections in which it will be mandatory for the candidates to solve question number one from section-1 and question number five from section-2.

{{/usCountry}}The UPPSC had declared the results of PCS (preliminary) examination-2021 on December 1, 2021 in which 7,688 candidates against a total 678 posts on offer were declared successful. A total of 6,91,173 candidates had applied online for the PCS-2021 examination that was held on October 24.
Out of these total candidates, 3,21,273 candidates had appeared in the PCS (pre)-2021 for which UPPSC had set up a total of 1,505 examination centres in 31 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Qualifying the CSAT or Civil Services Aptitude Test was a must in the preliminary examination and it was mandatory for all the candidates to score a minimum of 33 per cent in it.
