18 fresh dengue cases in Lucknow
Health department teams served a notice on Queen Mary’s Hospital, as conditions favourable for mosquito breeding were found on its campus on Friday.
In all, 68 notices were served for the same reason to different establishments in different areas including Indira Nagar, New Para Colony, Ravi Khand and Bangla Bazar.
During the day, 18 fresh dengue cases were reported from Lucknow, taking the total number of cases here to over 350 this year.
“Source reduction activity was undertaken in the areas from where dengue cases were reported,” said Dr Narendra Agrawal, chief medical officer, Lucknow.
The KGMU had been served three notices this year. Health teams visited the campus in July, August and September and found mosquito larvae at different places, including hostels and various departments.
The medical university gets nearly 8,000 patients every day while about 5,000 remain admitted here. Along with patients, at least 10,000 attendants remain on the campus on any given day. With mosquito larvae found on the campus, the risk of people getting vector-borne disease is high.
