NAVI MUMBAI: A 35-year-old man was killed and his mother was seriously injured after their car rammed into a dumper truck on the Mumbai-Goa Highway in the Kashedi Ghat section of Raigad district on Monday afternoon.
The accident occurred around 12.30pm near Bhogav village when a Hyundai Grand i10 travelling towards Mumbai crashed into the rear of a dumper moving ahead on the highway.
Police identified the deceased as Bijosh Balan, 35, a resident of Kalyan. His mother, Lissy Balan, 65, sustained serious injuries.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle before the collision. The impact severely damaged the front portion of the car, trapping both occupants inside.
The duo was rushed to the hospital. Bijosh was declared dead during treatment, while Lissy was given primary treatment and later shifted to another hospital for further care.
