MUMBAI: A fire in a cycle shed in Chembur on Saturday morning left one injured. It followed fires in Currey Road, Marine Lines and Versova on Friday night, none of which caused any injuries.

The fire in Chembur, near RC Marg, broke out at 9.20am. It was confined to a ground-floor shed with cycles, spare parts, and electric wiring stored in a 200 square feet area. One man, Govind Singh, 45, suffocated in the smoke and was taken to Rajawadi Hospital, where his condition is stated to be stable. The fire was extinguished by 9.40am.
Before this, a small fire struck the Vignaharta building, a ground-plus-30-floor building in Currey Road East, at around 1.30am. It was extinguished by 1.50am.
Friday night saw two fires in close succession – the first near a toy shop in Versova around 5pm. The next was in a third-floor house of the ground-plus-five floored Shri Pathan Jain Mandal building on Marine Lines at around 10pm. After approximately 50-60 persons were evacuated from the building, firefighting operations concluded at 10.24pm.
