Fire in Juhu building injures eight, all stable

The fire was confined to an air-conditioning unit on the sixth floor of the ground-plus-11-storey building. The fire brigade team successfully extinguished the fire by 11.30 am.

MUMBAI: Eight people sustained injuries after a fire broke out in a residential building at Juhu on Thursday morning. The incident was reported at around 7.43 am in a building called Manisha on JVPD Road No 12.

The fire was confined to an air-conditioning unit on the sixth floor of the ground-plus-11-storey building. The fire brigade team successfully extinguished the fire by 11.30 am.

According to information received from doctors at Bharatiya Arogya Nidhi Hospital, of the eight injured people, two—Gautam Zaveri (86) and Richa Gupta (63)—were treated in the outpatient department and discharged. Six others, identified as Alpa (63), Anusha (35), Nipul (52), Sarla Dharu (80), Rahil (36) and Kokila Zaveri (91), were admitted to the hospital and continue to be there.

All the injured persons are reported to be in a stable condition. The fire brigade said that the exact cause of the fire was yet to be ascertained.
