Man sends hoax messages to police about ex-employers, claims they are Dawood’s aide

Initial probe revealed that the voice notes were sent by a 42-year-old sacked employee of a diamond trader from Kozhikode in Kerala who tried to fix his employers.

Mumbai: The Mumbai Traffic Helpline number on Monday received twelve hoax voice messages and photos. The voice notes revealed that two close associates – Mustaffa Ahmed and Nawaz Aboobacker – of fugitive gangster Dawood Ibrahim Kaskar were planning to kill Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Aboobacker was the managing director of the company while Ahmed was his partner.

The caller even sent his own details and identified himself as Suprabhat Bej presently in rural parts of Howrah in West Bengal. He added that the two had not paid him his salary.

“We took the message very seriously and immediately started verifying each and every fact said in the messages and even Kolkata police teams were sent to the person who had sent the voice messages on the traffic control number,” said a police officer from Mumbai Police.

“He had even told the employers that he saw a ghost and he felt somebody was beating him. Bej was a very good goldsmith but since his brother died six months ago, he had started acting weird. The firm, therefore, sacked him after paying him his whole dues,” said a police officer.

“He confirmed that there was no terror involved with the matter.

“It turned out to be a hoax call. Soon, a police team will bring Bej to Mumbai and later a decision will be taken as to whether to register a case in the matter or not,” added the police officer.
