The suicide of two minor boys from Powai, who allegedly consumed rat poison after being sodomised by a group of people, continues to baffle the Mumbai police. The police have not had any breakthrough in the case, and claim that they are investigating several theories, including those of drug addicts having sodomised the victims .
After a rap from the Mumbai police commissioner, a special team has been formed, and the Mumbai crime branch has started a parallel inquiry. Initially, the police and the doctors took the incident very lightly, and allowed one of the boy’s parents to bury his body without conducting a post-mortem.
The incident later came to light on July 12, when the 13-year-old boy’s parents noticed their son vomiting. They took the boys to a private hospital, where it was revealed that there was poison in his system. The hospital then directed the parents to go to a government hospital. The 10-year old was rushed to a trauma hospital in Jogeshwari where he died the next day, while the 13-year-old was taken to Sion Hospital and later shifted to KEM, where he was admitted to the ICU and died on July 25.

They had noticed a change in the boys’ behaviours. They were scared and had stopped interacting with their parents before taking the drastic step.
