A 35-year-old man was arrested on Friday on charges of alleged abetment to the suicide of his 34-year-old wife, who died on Thursday while undergoing treatment, a police officer said.
A case was registered at Kasna police station following a complaint by the woman’s family members.
“On Thursday, the woman was admitted by her husband and in-laws at a hospital in Greater Noida. Upon getting information from the hospital over suicide suspicion, police reached and recorded her statement,” said Arvind Kumar, assistant commissioner of police, Greater Noida.
Her family members told the police that she was being “mentally harassed” by her husband. Her body was sent to a mortuary for an autopsy. “The post-mortem was conducted in the presence of her family members. Her viscera has been preserved to identify the reason behind the death,” said the ACP.
The woman got married 12 years ago and is survived by three children.
