Chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat took a “strong view” of officials who skipped the Independence Day functions held at the secretariat, different directorates and head offices across the state on Tuesday.

Rawat asked chief secretary S Ramaswamy and Director General of Police (DGP) Anil Raturi to demand written explanation from every official who was absent without prior information or sufficient reasons.
He also asked district magistrates to identify such officials under them and act against them within 24 hours.
He said the government had taken a serous view of officials skipping such an important occasion. Rawat also warned that the adverse entry could be marked against all such officials in their Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs).
This is for the first time since the formation of the state 17 years ago that officials skipping the Independence Day functions may invite action.
