Case filed against ABHM secretary for ‘provocative’ remarks

A case has been registered against the national secretary of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) Mahamandaleshwar Annapurna Bharti alias Pooja Shakun Pandey at Gandhi Park police station in Aligarh for making communally ‘provocative’ statements.

“Investigations are ongoing in this case, and appropriate action will be taken. Besides this, a notice has also been served on this issue to Pooja Shakun Pandey by the concerned magistrate,” stated SSP Aligarh. (FOR REPRESENTATION PURPOSE)

Pandey had sought a ban on the crowd gathering for the Friday ‘namaz.’

She was also served with a notice issued by additional city magistrate (first) Aligarh. Pandey replied to the notice on Monday, stating that she regretted if speaking the truth had hurt the sentiments of any religion. She denied that her statements were ‘provocative’.

“A case has been registered against Pooja Shakun Pandey under section 153A, 153B, 295A and 505 of Indian Penal Code at Gandhi Park police station of Aligarh for disputed statements made by her,” informed Kalanidhi Naithani, senior superintendent of police (SSP) Aligarh.

“Investigations are ongoing in this case, and appropriate action will be taken. Besides this, a notice has also been served on this issue to Pooja Shakun Pandey by the concerned magistrate,” stated SSP Aligarh on Monday.

Controversies are not new for Pooja Shakun Pandey. She had been booked earlier for glorifying and offering prayers to Nathuram Godse, the assassin of Mahatma Gandhi, and for various comments and acts in the past.

In this latest controversy, she had handed over a memorandum to the administration and written a letter in blood to the President seeking a ban on crowd fathering for Friday ‘namaz’.

“Such a crowd has often turned violent against other communities as seen in Kanpur’” she alleged.

However, after a case and notice, Pandey on Monday stated that her demand was based on truth, and such incidents have happened in the past after the Friday ‘namaz’.

“I regret if speaking truth has hurt the sentiments of followers of any religion, Pandey said, adding, that she understands the administration’s compulsions for acting against her for speaking the truth and not against those who were doing wrong.
