Speaking on Wednesday, Dr Javed asserted, “The basic education department has no business issuing notices to madrasas within the state. Not only did they serve notices to some madrasas in Muzaffarnagar without consulting us, but they also neglected to inform the Madrasa Education Board, a government body. What if we were to reciprocate by inspecting and fining schools under the Basic Education Department? How would they respond?”

He emphasised, “It is imperative for the basic education department to comprehend that they do not possess the authority to interfere in our operations. Only the minority welfare department is authorised to inspect madrasas, and the basic education department’s intrusion is causing unease within these institutions.”

It is worth noting that the basic education department recently dispatched notices to more than 12 unregistered madrasas in Muzaffarnagar, inquiring on what grounds they are operating without proper registration. Additionally, they have cautioned that a daily fine of 10,000 will be imposed if the notices are not addressed promptly.

He added, “This is not the first instance of the basic education department overstepping their boundaries in relation to the madrasa Education Board. Similar incidents have occurred in Kaushambi, Shravasti, and Amethi.”

Dr Javed concluded, “I intend to raise this matter with higher authorities to ensure that such missteps are not repeated in the future.”
