District officials have started preparations for the upcoming Makar Sankranti and historical Khichadi Mela at Gorakhnath Temple, in the New Year.

The arrangement and preparation for the mela is in the priorities of chief minister Yogi Adityanath.
Last week, after reviewing the ongoing preparations for the mela, the chief minister had directed officials to ensure comfort and convenience of devotees that come from various parts of the country and Nepal.
Roadways officials are gearing up to cater to the rush of devotees. On Tuesday, regional manager roadways (Gorakhpur) PK Tiwari said that the department would press 650 extra buses on 13 routes apart from establishing a camp office at Gorakhnath temple for the convenience of devotees.
District officials are focusing on effective crowd management and the routes for devotees to reach Gorakhnath temple from the railway and bus station. Officials are all set to hold a meeting with railway officials for special mela trains.
Meanwhile, SSP Gorakhpur Gaurav Grover reshuffled 10 police station in-charges in the district on Tuesday.
