The New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) is set to organise a classical music concert at Nehru Park on October 25 and 26, the civic body said in a statement on Wednesday.

The event is being held in collaboration with SPIC MACAY & the SRF Foundation under the “Music in the Park” series. Entry is free for all and the concert will begin at 6pm on both the evenings. The venue can be accessed from Niti Marg, officials said.
NDMC said Hindustani vocalist Ashwini Bhide Deshpande will open the musical evening along with sitarist Dhruv Bedi on Saturday. On October 26 (Sunday), Dr. N Rajam (violinist) and Shashank Subramanyam (Carnatic flute) will take the stage along with artistes Akram Khan, Vinay Mishra, Yati Bhagwat, Parupalli Phalgun, Nandini Shankar and Abhishek Mishra.
NDMC vice chairman Kuljeet Singh Chahal said the civic body is organizing the event in the background of the lush green Nehru Park. Through this event, NDMC continues its commitment of preserving and promoting India’s classical art and culture. Promotion of art and culture is one of the functions of the council provided under Section 12 of the NDMC Act, 1994, Chhal said.
