DSP Navendu Kumar said acting on a tip-off, the STF team intercepted a car near Meja trisection on Wednesday. Fifty-five kilograms of marijuana concealed in a specially made cavity in the car was recovered following which two persons in the vehicle were arrested. The estimated cost of the seized marijuana is worth 14 lakh. The arrested persons were identified as Shambhu Kumar Yadav and Saheb Singh of the Buxar district of Bihar.

Questioning from the duo revealed that they have brought marijuana from the Koraput district of Orissa from one Aadi Dada. The marijuana was to be delivered in Varanasi to one Sudhir Singh who is the kingpin of the gang. Shambhu and Saheb Singh used to get 20000 each time they smuggled marijuana. Sudhir Singh runs the racket and is wanted in a case registered in Mirzapur in October this year.
