Foremost among its decisions is that from the coming academic session (2023-24), there will be centralised admission for all professional courses being run either by the university’s main campus or by its affiliated colleges. This includes both undergraduate and post-graduate courses, informed university officials.

The online application process for the same will start from next month, they added.

From the coming academic session, this state university is all set to start several new professional courses including five-year Integrated LLB course, BCA and MCA, besides continuing with the existing professional courses like BEd and MEd.

“Although we are still mulling over the admission guidelines that would be followed in this coming academic session, but this is for sure that the minimum eligibility criterion, in terms of marks obtained in intermediate (for admission in UG courses) and in undergraduate course (for admission in PG courses), will not be less than the one followed last year,” said prof Akhilesh Singh, vice-chancellor of the university.

As per last year’s guideline, which has been approved by the academic council (AC) and the executive council (EC) of the university, for admission to UG courses, general and OBC candidates must have scored a minimum of 40% marks in intermediate. Students with less marks will not get admission in any college of the university. Likewise, SC/ST candidates must have scored 35% or more marks in Intermediate.

“Admission in professional courses in PRSU and associated colleges will be done through a joint entrance test. This includes LLB three-year, LLB five-year, BBA, BCA, BSc (agriculture), MSc (agriculture), MEd, BPEd, MEd, BLib and MLib courses,” said Avinash Kumar Srivastava, a senior faculty member of the Philosophy department of the university.

In the new session, qualifying marks will soon be fixed for admission to graduation and post-graduation courses as the university will declare detailed admission guidelines soon, he added.

Formerly known as Allahabad State University, the Professor Rajendra Singh (Rajju Bhaiya) State University is among the newest state universities of Uttar Pradesh. It was set up in 2016. The university has a total of 669 colleges -- including 348 colleges in Prayagraj, 78 in Kaushambi, 78 in Fatehpur and 165 in Pratapgarh district -- affiliated to it. Currently, there are around 4.5 lakh students enrolled in the university and its affiliated colleges.
