SP Mela takes charge; chalks out security plan ahead of first ‘snan’

Magh Mela police have prepared a foolproof security blueprint of pilgrims ahead of the first bathing day on January 6. SP Mela Rajiv Narayan Mishra took charge on Tuesday and gave a presentation of security arrangements to DGP Devendra Singh Chaudhary.

The DGP has issued instructions to take concrete steps to ensure safety of women pilgrims and avert incidents of thefts in mela area. He also asked officials to maintain smooth traffic movement.

SP Mela said strict security arrangements are in place in mela area. All police officials have been deployed at different points. ASP Devendra Bhushan has been deployed as zonal officer at Sangam while Mohd Tariq has been given charge of Jhunsi.

ASP Aastha Jaiswal has been made assistant nodal officer of Magh Mela. Abdul Razzaq will be circle officer (Parade) while Babulal Yadav will be (CO Mahaveer Ji Marg), Prem Prakash Yadav as CO (Kalpvasis), Ishtiyaq Ahmad as CO (Traffic), Rajkumar Pandey CO (Sangam) and Dinesh Yadav has been appointed as CO (Water Police).

On Tuesday evening, SP Mela also took a meeting with members of Bharat Scouts and Guides and NCC cadets.

It is worth mentioning that to ensure high security, 3 additional SPs, 9 circle officers, 20 inspectors, 200 sub-inspectors, 25 women sub-inspectors, 1400 constables, 10 companies of PAC, one company of SDRF, a unit of STF and ATS commandoes have been deployed in Magh Mela.
