A female tiger was found dead with a suspected gunshot injury along the Roing–Anini road in Arunachal Pradesh on Thursday, officials said.

The development comes two days after an Arunachal Pradesh Police personnel was killed in a suspected tiger attack.
According to officials aware of the matter, forest personnel detected the sub-adult female tiger’s carcass around 3:15pm on February 4 at the 49-km point under Mehao Wildlife Range.
Preliminary examination indicated a possible gunshot wound.

The divisional forest officer (DFO) of Mehao Wildlife Sanctuary Division, Roing, has constituted a committee to conduct the post-mortem and supervise disposal of the carcass in accordance with guidelines of the National Tiger Conservation Authority (NTCS).
The committee, headed by DFO Mito Rumi, includes veterinary experts from Itanagar Biological Park, the Wildlife Trust of India and local forest officials.
