Two people were arrested in Manipur’s Churachandpur district on Wednesday for their alleged involvement in a firing incident at security forces which left one Rapid Action Force (RAF) personnel injured, officials confirmed on Thursday.

Officials said security forces, including district police, one platoon of 129 battalion Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), along with 37th Assam Rifles intercepted a vehicle at around 4pm on Wednesday at Rengkai, Churachandpur district.

According to police, the two occupants inside the vehicle were found allegedly involved in an earlier firing incident towards security forces in Sielmat bridge, Churachandpur district. During the incident, one RAF personnel had sustained a bullet injury.
The two occupants who were arrested later were identified as Ngamkhomang Haokip (36) of S.Moldung, Churachandpur district, and Letminthang Haokip (38) of Lhangnom village, Churachandpur district.
Officials confirmed that they were arrested under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
