LUCKNOW With the arrest of two youngsters on Wednesday, police have claimed to crack the murder case of the 60-year-old driver, Harpinder, whose blood-soaked body was found on the rear seat of a truck parked along the Mati Road under the PGI police station limits on Monday.

The accused -- 19-year-old Rohit Kumar and 26-year-old Kamal -- are residents of Sitapur. During interrogation, Rohit told police that Harpinder, originally from Faridkot district in Punjab, tried to harass him sexually under the influence of alcohol. In order to save himself, he attacked Harpinder with an iron weapon, said DCP east Hridesh Kumar.

The DCP added, “The accused also told us that in order to destroy the evidence, they drove the truck to the outskirts of the city and fled with its key and some money and even threw the weapon at a secluded place.” A press note shared by police said, “The two have been booked under IPC sections of 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence).”
