The Jankipuram Residents’ Association came up with a novel way of drawing the attention of authorities towards bad roads. The members gave titles to the potholes and decorated broken roads with garlands in the presence of locals.

The broken road in front of Arjun Park was given the title of ‘Gaddha Shiromani’ -- the pothole was also decorated with flowers.

The potholes on the roads of Sector F Jankipuram were given the title of ‘Gaddha Ratna’ while a few bigger potholes were given the title of ‘Gaddha Vibhushan’. The honours were done by noted scientist Dr Pradeep Srivastava and satirist Pankaj Prasoon, along with locals.

A number of residents blasted the LMC for not repairing the roads despite a number of reminders in this regard. They also recited sarcastic poems ‘in praise’ of broken roads.

“The potholes help us concentrate better and get prepared for the worst. One can also have fishes in these potholes during the rainy season, this would generate employment. Roads are temporary but potholes are permanent,” said Prasoon.
