Ajit Pawar targets governor Koshyari in presence of PM Modi during Pune event
Of late, some people holding important positions are making unnecessary comments which are not acceptable to the people of Maharashtra, said Pawar
PUNE Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar, on Sunday, while targeting Maharashtra Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari, said some people holding high posts were making unnecessary comments and this is not acceptable to the people of the state.

Pawar said this at Pune’s MIT College ground, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the governor were present during the inauguration of various development projects.
“I want to bring one thing to the Prime Minister’s notice. Of late, some people holding important positions are making unnecessary comments which are not acceptable to the people of Maharashtra,” he said.
Earlier last week, Koshyari, during a programme in Aurangabad, underlined the role of the guru (teacher) while citing the examples of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chandragupta Maurya.
“Many chakravartis (emperors), maharajas took birth on this land. But who would have asked about Chandragupta had there not been Chanakya? Who would have asked about Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj had there not been Samarth (Ramdas),” he said.
“I am not questioning the calibre of Chandragupta and Shivaji Maharaj. Like a mother who plays a key role in shaping her child, similarly, the role of guru (teacher) has a big place in our society,” the governor had said.
While Pawar did not name anyone while complaining about Koshyari, the deputy chief minister’s remarks raised eyebrows among many in the programme where the leader of opposition Devendra Fadnavis and Sena Minister Eknath Shinde were present.
“Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his mother Rajmata Jijau formed Swarajya. Mahatma Jyotiba Phule and Krantijyoti Savitribai Phule (both social reformers from Maharashtra) laid the foundation for women’s education. We need to carry forward their legacy without holding grudges against anyone and without bringing politics into the development works,” the NCP leader said.
In the past, the MVA government and Koshyari have been engaged in a war of words over various issues.
Pawar also pointed out that the Pune Metro got delayed due to some elected members’ insistence over the underground route.
“Some honourable members from Pune took an aggressive stand about Metro and opposed the elevated stretch. The controversy went on for a long, creating a delay. Finally, union minister Nitin Gadkari took a firm decision and give a nod for elevated metro,” he said.
Pawar appealed Prime Minister to help with the extension of Metro routes between Swargate to Katraj, PCMC to Nigdi, Vanaz to Chandni chowk and others.
During earlier phase one of Metro work, both Centre and state government bore 20% share each and PMC contributed 10% of the project cost. The rest of the 50% funding was raised through a loan. Now central government is giving only 10% instead of 20% of the project cost.
