A Nomadic and Denotified Tribes Study Centre was inaugurated at Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) in the Marathi Language Building on Wednesday.
Addressing the inauguration function, pro vice-chancellor C Kalkar said, “Such study centres help in understanding historical traditions and addressing social issues through research.”
The centre will focus on research across regions, including Western Maharashtra, Konkan, Marathwada, North Maharashtra, and Vidarbha, covering the socio-cultural aspects and challenges these communities face. It will also provide research training to students in this field.
Chief guest Uddhav Kale spoke about the rich history of nomadic and denotified communities and appreciated the government’s efforts for their development.
