Chandrakant Patil’s security beefed up after ink attack

At least 50 policemen were part of security cover when Patil attended a public function at Warje-Malwadi on Monday

Following the ink attack, Pune police and central government, have stepped up the security of state technical and higher education minister Chandrakant Patil. At least 50 policemen were part of security cover when Patil attended a public function at Warje-Malwadi on Monday.

According to the police, Patil has been given police protection by local police station staffers and in addition to that five crime branch officers are present alongside to protect him. Similarly, the roads leading to the function venue of Patil are also being provided security with the deployment of additional police personnel. Besides, he has also been given protection by the deployment of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) as part of enhanced protection.

Despite the security of ten policemen under the Y category, ten policemen separately as part of the escort duty and in addition to special police protection teams, Manoj Bhaskar Gharbade (34), organising member of Samata Sainik Dal, threw ink Patil during an event in Chinchwad on December 10.

Following the security breach, Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) police chief ordered suspension of 11 policemen who were entrusted with the duty of protection of the minister on grounds of dereliction of duty.
