Pune: A residential complex in Chikhali suffered extensive damage after heavy rain on Monday caused its compound walls to collapse, sending floodwater into the premises.

The incident occurred at Blue Dice Society, where the collapse of the front and rear compound walls led to severe waterlogging in the C and D wings. Nearly 4 feet of water inundated the parking area and ground floor, trapping residents for several hours.
Around 40 cars and several two-wheelers were submerged, while electrical installations, common facilities and other infrastructure were also damaged. No injuries were reported.
Residents said the situation worsened within minutes after the walls gave way under the pressure of accumulated rainwater.
“Everything happened within minutes. The water entered with great force after the walls collapsed, leaving no time to move vehicles or protect belongings. We urge the civic administration to conduct a structural inspection, assess the damage and take immediate measures to prevent such incidents from recurring,” said resident Raju Mante.
A senior officer from the PCMC Disaster Management Cell said, “Our teams visited the site immediately after receiving information about the incident. The continuous heavy rainfall led to water accumulation, resulting in the collapse of the compound walls and flooding inside the society. We coordinated with the fire brigade and other civic departments to assist residents, drain out the accumulated water and assess the damage.”
