Vimantal police arrested four people on Saturday for firing three revolver rounds into the air to instil fear in the Lohegaon area, according to officials. Nitin Sakat, Ganesh Rakhpasare, and their two accomplices have been identified as the accused.

As per police, the bike-borne quartet assembled at Tukaram Maharaj Mandir chowk at around 10.30 pm on Friday. Sakat fired two rounds into the air to establish his hold in the area. Later, all of them headed towards Ganpati Chowk, where the accused fired another round. Onlookers said that two of them were under influence of alcohol.
Mangesh Jagtap, Police Inspector (crime) at Vimantal police station said, “We have collected CCTV footage in the area and found that Sakat and his three accomplices created a ruckus by firing three rounds in the air. We have confirmed the identity of the other accused and initiated a search operation against them.”
Jagtap further said that prima facie it was observed that, no one was injured in the incident and gunshots were fired out of a power struggle in the area. Jagtap informed that cops have booked the accused under relevant sections and a search of all accused is going on.
Vimantal police have registered a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 336 (Act endangering life or personal safety of others) and sections 3 (25) of the Arms act.
