Four dead, 30 rescued, over 270 shifted to safety as heavy rain batters Pune district

Incessant rainfall over the past two days triggered landslides, flooding and road closures across Pune district, leaving four people dead, including three in a landslide at Patan village in Maval taluka and one who was swept away in Khed taluka. Rescue teams saved 30 people and shifted over 270 residents from vulnerable areas to safer locations.

The district administration said 27 revenue circles recorded over 65 mm of rainfall between July 5 and July 6, with Maval receiving the highest rainfall of 237.3 mm.

Meanwhile, a young man was swept away by strong floodwaters while attempting to push his motorcycle across a waterlogged road in Khed taluka on Sunday.

In Talegaon, firefighters rescued 30 employees stranded in a company bus trapped in floodwaters, while around 250 residents of Taje village were evacuated as a precaution.

Landslides disrupted the Pune-Mumbai Expressway Missing Link project area and the Lonavla–Karjat railway section. Rising water levels also led to the closure of bridges and vulnerable routes in Dehu, Alandi and other flood-prone areas, while pilgrims near the Alandi temple complex were shifted to safer places.
