Girl, 11, killed after negligently parked vehicle rolls forward in Talegaon

Despite knowing that such negligence could cause serious injury or death, the driver failed to take basic safety precautions

An 11-year-old girl died after a negligently parked vehicle rolled forward in Talegaon Dabhade, police said.

The incident occurred on Monday near Surya Green Society on Somatane–Chaurai Nagar Road. Police said the driver of the vehicle (MH-14 KA 4876), who was performing delivery work, had parked on a slope without applying the handbrake or leaving the vehicle in gear.

Despite knowing that such negligence could cause serious injury or death, the driver failed to take basic safety precautions. The vehicle rolled forward, hitting the girl, identified as Dnyaneshwari Gurhe, causing severe injuries. She later succumbed to them.

An investigation is underway to identify and apprehend the accused.

Police added that the accused did not provide medical assistance or inform authorities, fleeing the scene immediately after the accident.

A case has been registered at Talegaon Dabhade police station under Section 105 of the BNS and Sections 134(a)(b), 122, and 196 of the Motor Vehicles Act.
