Goa CM Pramod Sawant undergoes successful angioplasty in Pune

Doctors have advised the chief minister to remain hospitalised for the next couple of days for monitoring and rest

Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant underwent a successful angioplasty at Ruby Hall Clinic in Pune after complaining of chest pain on Friday, hospital officials said.

Sawant was admitted to the hospital around 6:15 pm, after which doctors initially conducted an angiography. Based on the findings, the medical team further decided to proceed with an angioplasty. The procedure was performed around 10:15 pm, after which Sawant was kept under observation in the intensive care unit (ICU).

The procedure was performed successfully by a team of cardiologists without any complications, officials said.

In an official statement, Dr Purvez Grant, chief cardiologist, chairman and managing trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, said, “Sawant is admitted at Ruby Hall Clinic. He has successfully undergone an angioplasty procedure. The intervention was completed without complications, and his condition is currently stable. He is recovering well and remains under close observation.”

Doctors have advised the chief minister to remain hospitalised for the next couple of days for monitoring and rest.
