Police sources said that Kale and another accused, Sunny Yadav, were recently released on bail in connection with the murder of local corporator Mahendra Mallav in 2016. During the clash, Yadav allegedly chased and openly fired on Kale, shooting multiple rounds at him. Investigators suspect that after the firing, the attackers also assaulted Kale with stones, resulting in his death on the spot. His associate was injured in the incident.

Prashant Dhole, sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Shirur division, said, “ Both the deceased and accused were in jail related to a murder case. They were recently released from jail. We have formed various teams to arrest the accused.”

Dhole further clarified that the exact motive behind the murder will be ascertained after the arrest of the accused.
