PUNE: A 32-year-old man was arrested for allegedly strangling his wife with a mixer grinder wire after a heated argument over suspicions about her character.

The incident was reported on Friday at around 4pm in Sai Nagar, Chakan. It came to light on Saturday when the accused, Rafiq Pathan, 32, appeared at the North Chakan police station and confessed to killing his wife at their residence. He was immediately taken into custody.
A police team rushed to the spot and found the woman lying dead inside the house. The deceased has been identified as Badima Rafiq Pathan, 27.
According to the preliminary investigation, the couple had been facing frequent domestic disputes, with the husband suspecting his wife’s fidelity. On the day of the incident, an argument between the two escalated into violence. Police said the accused allegedly used the electric wire of a mixer grinder to strangle his wife to death.
The woman’s body was sent for post-mortem examination, and based on the complaint filed by the victim’s father, a case has been filed at the North Chakan police station under section 103(1) of the BNS.
