A 34-year-old man was allegedly murdered by the brothers of a woman he was in an interfaith relationship with in Pune’s Ambegaon area, police said on Wednesday.

According to police, the woman’s family was opposed to the relationship. Investigators said the family objected to the match as the man worked at a garage, while the woman was pursuing her post-graduation.
The deceased has been identified as Javed Pathan. Police said the woman’s two brothers attacked him with sharp weapons on Monday evening. Pathan was taken to a hospital in a critical condition, where he later died due to his injuries.
An official from the Ambegaon police station said the accused fled the spot after the attack. Four police teams have been formed to trace and arrest them.
