A minor fire at Pune Railway Station on Monday evening caused temporary panic among passengers after flames were spotted at a food stall on Platform No. 1. The blaze, which reportedly started during routine operations at the stall, was quickly contained thanks to the swift response of railway staff and the fire brigade.

Preliminary reports indicate that the fire broke out when cooking oil at the stall accidentally caught fire, producing smoke and commotion in the immediate vicinity. Passengers on the platform were briefly alarmed, but railway authorities promptly secured the area to prevent the situation from escalating. Two fire tenders were dispatched, and on-duty staff immediately initiated firefighting measures.
Hemant Kumar Behera, spokesperson for the Pune Railway Division, said, “There was a fire incident at one of the food stalls on Platform No. 1, where oil started burning. Within 10 minutes, the fire was brought under control by the staff, and two fire tenders were rushed to the spot. No one was injured in the incident.”
Railway officials confirmed that there were no casualties. The affected area was cordoned off as a precaution, and station operations continued with minimal disruption.
