In a significant development, Neeraj Jadhav, suspected of exposing self-styled godman Ashok Kharat’s activities, was arrested by the Nashik Crime Branch on Friday, with police probing his role in leaking incriminating videos and alleged blackmail.

According to investigators, Jadhav had earlier worked with Kharat and gained access to his office, from where he allegedly obtained CCTV footage and objectionable videos linked to the case. Police suspect he circulated the material and attempted to extort money.
Officials said Jadhav initially tried to blackmail Kharat using the footage. After Kharat allegedly refused to pay and filed a complaint at a local police station, Jadhav is believed to have approached alleged victims, threatening them and demanding money.
A case had been registered against him at Shirdi police station, following which teams from Shirdi and Nashik launched a search operation that led to his arrest.
Police said multiple videos related to the alleged exploitation are now under scrutiny.
A detailed probe is underway to establish the full extent of the network, including the possibility of more victims and others involved in circulating the videos.
