PUNE Less than a year ago, Pune saw hundreds of Covid-19 patients admitted in the hospitals and many more struggling to get a single bed for treatment .The Pune district has not seen a single Covid-19 casualty for eight straight days.

As of Sunday, Pune city does not have a single Covid-19 patient on ventilator. Only one patient is on an oxygen bed.The district, including rural, Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) have not reported a single death due to the infection since March 6. Despite the increased activities, the number of new cases continue to go down along with hospitalisations.
Dr Ashish Bharti, chief health officer, PMC said, “It is great to witness such a scenario after two years of the pandemic. As of Sunday, we have 513 vacant ventilator beds, as there is not even a single Covid-19 patient on ventilator and out of the 4,147 oxygen beds, only one is occupied. The positivity rate due to the infection has gone down to just 3.34%.”
On Sunday, Maharashtra also reported no Covid casualties.
As per the district health office since March 6, the district has not reported a single death related to Covid-19 infection. In the district out of the 1,042 active Covid-19 patients only 10% or 108 patients are isolated in the hospital and undergoing treatment. The district’s positivity rate stood at 1.34%.
