Leader of opposition Nilesh Nikam said his party opposed allowing one contractor to operate plants with a capacity of over 500 metric tonnes.

“Earlier, PMC awarded a 1,000 metric tonne plant at the Uruli Devachi depot to a single bidder. The contractor failed to handle the project properly, forcing PMC to resort to open dumping. Multiple operators reduce dependency on one player,” he said.

Congress leader Prashant Jagtap alleged that the standing committee was pushing the project in favour of a specific bidder. “If necessary, we will take legal action,” he said.

Congress leader Arvind Shinde claimed certain tender conditions appeared tailored for a particular contractor.

“One condition requires seven years’ experience. Wet and dry waste processing involve different technologies, so why should the same contractor handle both?” he said.
