PUNE: The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) on Tuesday issued a public warning after fake- recruitment messages, appointment letters and lists of selected candidates claiming to have been sent by the civic body were found doing the rounds of social media, officials said Wednesday.

Civic officials clarified that no recruitment process for any post is currently underway in the municipal corporation. The administration in its statement made it clear that it has not issued any official notifications, advertisements or appointment letters related to recruitment. The administration further said that it has received a couple of oral complaints that some individuals are trying to cheat citizens by using the civic body’s name and promising jobs.
Manoj Lonkar, additional commissioner, PCMC, urged citizens to remain cautious. “The municipal corporation has not started any recruitment process. Citizens should not trust unauthorised advertisements or messages circulating on social media and must verify information only through official sources,” he said.
Civic officials said that all recruitment-related announcements, whenever issued, will be published only on the civic body’s official website and that citizens should cross-check all such claims online and report dubious messages to the authorities to avoid falling prey to scamsters.
