The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) standing committee on Thursday approved ₹484 crore to cover operational losses of the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML). The public transport utility reported an operational loss of ₹808.26 crore for the financial year 2025–26.

Standing committee chairman Shreenath Bhimale said, “As per the government’s directive, PMC is bearing 60% of the losses, while the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation will contribute the remaining 40%. We will contribute ₹484.96 crore and have instructed the administration to release the amount in instalments.”
Civic officials said PMC will release around ₹39.5 crore per month to PMPML over the next year.
“PMPML’s losses are increasing year after year, putting a burden on PMC. However, to strengthen public transport, the civic body will continue to provide financial support.”
