PMC to open 5 new diagnostic centres across city

PUNE: To make healthcare affordable, the Pune Municipal Corporation plans to set up five new diagnostic centres across the city, the civic commissioner announced on Tuesday.

Commissioner Naval Kishore Ram said the centres would be established on a PPP basis. “PMC plans to erect the five diagnostic centres at various parts of the city. This would help citizens visit the nearest centre to their place of residence for various tests,” he said.

He further said that although PMC already operates some health facilities on a PPP basis, he is not happy with the arrangement. He informed that the PMC provides the land and the equipment for the operators, who then run it.

“Actually, giving the land should be enough. This time, we will try to make the PPP model more helpful for the citizens,” he said.

The PMC currently offers established diagnostic centres at Kamla Nehru Hospital, Padmavathi Healthcare Research & Hospitals Private Ltd, and Pote Clinic.
