Pune: With the monsoon having taken a break since the beginning of August, there is an absence of strong weather systems due to which rainfall activity has reduced significantly over Maharashtra, including Pune (district and city). However, Pune city will continue to experience cloudy weather throughout the week, an official from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) Pune said.

Jyoti Sonar, a meteorologist from the weather forecasting division of the IMD Pune, said that though most areas in Pune district are not witnessing any rainfall activity due to the absence of strong weather systems, Pune city and its adjoining areas will continue to experience cloudy weather for a week. The city is likely to experience light showers in isolated areas in the coming days, Sonar said.

Meanwhile, ‘normal’ minimum and maximum temperatures were recorded in the city. According to the data, Shivajinagar logged a maximum temperature of 28.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum temperature of 22.6 degrees Celsius on August 7.

After robust rainfall throughout the month of July, the monsoon entered its break phase since the beginning of August, resulting in considerably subdued rainfall activity over the state. While many districts of Maharashtra, including Pune, experienced excess rainfall in July, the situation changed since the beginning of August and the state is once again waiting for good monsoon showers.

That indicates, there is no rainfall activity expected in those districts throughout the week. There is a slight possibility of a very light rainfall in isolated areas which mainly depends on the local weather conditions.
