Pune: The school education department has extended the deadline for registration of schools under the Right to Education (RTE) Act till January 30, Primary education director Sharad Gosavi said that schools were earlier instructed to complete registration and verification between January 20-27, following the initial phase held on January 9-19.

However, considering pending registrations, a final extension from January 28 to 30 has now been granted. Gosavi clarified that no further extension will be given beyond this deadline.
So far, 7,739 unaided and self-financed schools have completed registration, making over 1 lakh seats available for admissions under the 25 % RTE quota for the 2026–27 academic year.
Following the completion of school registration and verification, online student registration for RTE admissions will begin in the first week of February, officials confirmed.
Under the RTE Act, the state government conducts the online admission process for 25% reserved seats in unaided and self-financed schools every year.
