A 32-year-old man was allegedly assaulted by a group of individuals at a snooker club in the Camp area in the early hours of Friday, police said on Sunday.
The victim, Adil Mohammed Shaikh, 32, a Kondhwa resident and the club manager, stated in his complaint that the incident occurred around 2:05 am on April 24 at a snooker and pool academy on MG Road.
A five-to-six-member group led by a certain Shahid Qureshi, 25, came to play snooker at the club. A dispute broke out when the group allegedly continued playing beyond the allotted time and Shaikh demanded additional payment. This led to an argument, which soon escalated into a violent assault.
Santosh Khetmalas, senior inspector at Lakshar police station, said, “The accused allegedly attacked Shaikh with a wooden snooker stick and an extension rod, causing injuries, and then fled the scene.”
Based on the complaint, Lashkar police station registered a case under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges related to assault, criminal intimidation and rioting, and the Criminal Law Amendment Act.
No arrests have been made so far, and efforts are underway to trace and apprehend the accused. Further investigation is ongoing.
