PUNE The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education (MSBSHSE) said students will continue to get ten minutes to read the question paper even as portions of the chemistry paper of Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) or Class 12 were found on the mobile phone of the student in Vile Parle, Mumbai, after the paper was handed over ten minutes before the exam on March 12.
A teacher attached to a private coaching class in Mumbai was arrested in the case.
Varsha Gaikwad, Maharashtra Education Minister on Monday said that a detailed enquiry will be initiated into the incident. “The incident cannot be termed as a paper leak,” she said.
“The paper is given ten minutes in advance for the students to read. The paper was given at 10:20 am on Saturday and the exam starts at 10.30 am. However, it was found that some portions of the paper were shared on WhatsApp at 10:24 am by a girl student at centre number 3601 at Vile Parle in Mumbai,” said Gaikwad.
She added that a police complaint has been registered and the detailed enquiry will be carried out.
According to board officials, on Saturday 27 incidents of malpractice were reported across Maharashtra for the paper of chemistry. For the paper of political science, a total of 14 malpractices were reported by the board across all divisions.

{{/usCountry}}So far, the physics paper for Class 12 reported the maximum number of malpractice incidents which went as high as 45.
Sharad Gosavi, chairman of MSBSHSE, said that the complaint against the student has been registered.
“There was no paper leak as the paper was shared during the time given to students to read the question. We urge the students to focus on their studies instead of malpractices. Such incidents can impact the future of the child,” said Gosavi.
However, Gosavi added that the ten minutes given to students is a part of the policy decision and the discussion on the same will be conducted.
