Thieves broke into the Shri Mhatoba Gad Deosthan Temple in Bhamburda in Kothrud between March 21 evening and March 22 early morning and decamped with valuables worth around ₹49,000. The accused allegedly cut open the iron safety door, entered the temple premises and stole brass items, cash and a battery.

Police on Wednesday filed a case against unidentified persons on a complaint lodged by a 61-year-old resident.
Police said the theft appears to have been committed after forcibly damaging the iron door using tools.
